Hello everyone,
The actual research behind this crystal must be credited to Maren,
who with the help of her mage friends, discovered the existence
of this clue to the Sorcerer's guild. We both had the opportunity
to witness the vison which is recorded, as best as I could remember
it, below. It took place in the hidden cave which can be found
underneath the waterfall, which is located in the jungle on the
Coastal Road of Primordia.

The vision occured only after a rock was moved by a mage. I suppose
that the mages invoke some kind of magical energy when doing this,
but as their secrets are very closely guarded, and sometimes also
seem to be not fully understood by the magicians themselves, I can't
say why the vision only occurs to those studying magic.

The Vision
***********

The old man shudders, and looks up at you.
The old man says: Martik! At last you have come.
The old man sighs deeply.
The old man says: Thank Arzash that thee were able to interpret the clues
I have tried to leave thee.
The old man says: Thou knewst me as Fielar in our sacred guild my friend.
The old man says: But there is no harm in telling you now that my real
name was Gardan. I was the secret protector of the knowledge
                  of our guild.
Gardan looks urgently at you.
Gardan says: Martik, by the time thee shalt read this, thou will be the
last living member of the sourcerers guild.
Gardan says: Thou MUST save our guild from total destruction at the hands
of the vile necromancers! The mages of Atlantis may be able
to help you if you can reach them in time.
Gardan looks down at his wound.
Gardan says: I have little time. This recording I have etched into the
very rocks around us in the hope that you will find it.
Gardan says: Take this scroll and use it wisely. There is very little
left of our guild. Take this with Arzash's blessing, and
             use the knowledge wisely.

Gardan claps his hands above his head, and something appears
in your hands.

The image of Gardan fades away into nothingness.

You realise that the skeleton in north of the cave was probably the Martik
that Gardan was speaking of. It looks like he was killed before he could get
to the switch.

The scroll which the mage who assisted us received, was said to be a
scroll of Earthquake, written in an arcane language but not surprising
or mysterious knowledge to the Atlantis Magicians.

The text "Ancient Way" claims that the Sorcerer's Guild was comprised
mainly of practicers of natural magic, a sort of guild of druids.
If the close connection with nature was truely present, the Necromancers
might have wanted to share this knowledge to influence or change the
generally adverse affect which necromancy creates on the environment
(i.e. vortices and scorched earth). It seems, however, that the
Atlantis Magicians ultimately won the contest to successfully obtain
and assimilate the knowledge of the Sorcerers' Guild; some theories
even hint that the convocation of Nature, one of the areas of study
available to the Atlantis Magicians, is a direct result of their
assimilation of the knowledge of the Sorcerer's Guild.

One possible theory about the existance of the Sorcerer's Guild relates
to studies of the actual island Atlantis itself. The island is,
geologically speaking, one of the newer continents of Xyllomer. In
the past, there is evidence of the existance of an island by the name
of Avalon, which would have been located in the exact same place where
Atlantis is today. Rumour has it that something caused the island of
Avalon to sink, and then through some magic Atlantis was created in its
wake. These events happened so many years ago, however, that the reason
for the sinking of Avalon is lost to history.

It might have occured, that in the sinking of Avalon and the raising of
Atlantis, the Sorcerers' Guild was greatly weakened; for a guild based
on nature to have the very source of their powers disappear would have
been very destructive. In addition, having either their magic or numbers
greatly reduced would make them easier prey for enemy guilds, i.e.
Necromancers, who seem to have caused the ultimate destruction of the
Sorcerers. As for those who might claim that the Sorcerer's Guild did not
exist due to the delicate nature of magic, which in recent history has
only been mastered by the Atlantis magicians, the advent of the Freemage
Alliance offers proof that magical studies _can_ exist independently from
the Atlantis Magicians.

Research on the existance of this ancient guild will continue; if any
more knowledge is discovered or obtained, information would be greatly
appreciated.
